135 Cliff Drive, Victoria, BC (Metchosin)
Elaine Morton was born and raised on Vancouver Island and has always had a paintbrush in her hand. She has Bachelor degrees in Fine Arts (1980) and Social Work (1995) from the University of Victoria. The west coast imagery is central in her paintings from the soft seascapes to the shells and other beach treasures delicately rendered in watercolour. Native local wildflowers inspire her detailed botanical paintings. Although primarily a watercolourist, like many artists, she also creates representational art in a variety of other mediums including clay, acrylic and mixed media. She enjoys the challenge of fostering the play of light and colour, and design in each new work. As an avid environmentalist, she hopes that her artwork will foster a greater appreciation of the natural world.
