580 Witty Beach Rd., Victoria, BC (Metchosin)
I started drawing and painting in the early 80's as an antidote to a demanding international job. The antidote became an addiction which persisted after retiring at the end of 1992 to the family farm in Metchosin. My main media are oils (outside) and acrylics (inside). Paintings mostly fall within a few themes: annual self-portaits, "political" pieces done in response to social evils, views from rooms where I have slept while away from home, records of farm seasons and events, bodies and faces, and landscapes and panoramas which explore alternatives to standard perspective. Most current works are plein air landscapes. Showing and selling are less enjoyable than producing, but I am happy when pieces find good homes.
